Working in threes has always felt good to me. Whether it's "politically correct" in the art world, or just intuitive artistic sensibility, triptychs make better sense. I have just completed another series of 3 paintings that work independently of each other but viewed together make a stronger commentary in regards to Native American life and an intrinsic appreciation of the earth.
"Broken"
12 x 12 encaustic and oil pastel on cradled panel
The other 2 paintings:
"Cave Dwellers"
12 x 12 encaustic and oil pastel on cradled panel
"Rain Dance"
12 x 12 encaustic and oil pastel on cradled panel
These are all so beautiful! I can only imagine how they look in person. I just love them.
ReplyDeleteI like three's as well.
Thanks, Pam. I already have a next set of 3, double the size (1 already painted in the same primitive style). Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteI do like these so much more than the abstract topographs, Robin. My favorite is the rain dance. There is a joy in that piece!
ReplyDeleteThe topography paintings were part of my learning process, Sherry. I am happier with this new work too. But FYI and I will probably write in my next blog post - the Copley Society gave me an "Award of Merit" for one of my topography paintings. Our different taste and preferences are what make the world go round. :)
DeleteCool pieces, the rain dance stole my heart, super lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks, padmaja. It's always so interesting to hear feedback to which paintings resonate with others. There will be more to come in this new series of work.
ReplyDeleteThese are like memories or dreams--I can almost remember--like time washed some of it away. Great work.
ReplyDeleteI finally feel more connected to what I am doing and how I am doing it. Thanks, Hallie.
