I also have been notified that all 3 of my paintings were accepted into "Encaustic Nature in Art" at the Art Center in Highland Park, IL. The show opens and runs through the month of March and for me the opening reception on March 7 will be the first time I visit the art center. It's starting to feel like I actually am establishing myself in the arts community here in the midwest. There are so many opportunities, it all takes time to pick and choose the right fit for my artwork.
Paintings in the show:
"Autumn Sky", 6" x 6"
"Pathway", 24" x 18"
"Pollinator", 6" x 6"
Last bit of news - it's taken several years but Linda Robertson Womack is finishing details on her soon to be published e-book, "Embracing Encaustic", and yours truly is one of the featured artists included in the book. I will hear in the next few weeks when the book will be released and I am thrilled. The book is an excellent tool for beginners to advanced encaustic artists in search of new inspiration, studio tips and plenty of visuals with different techniques describing how to paint with beeswax.
Painting to be included in the e-book:
"Sunday on Snow Street", 8" x 8"
There are over 70 encaustic artists in the book and each has explained their technique accompanied with a sample of their work. I have a hard copy of the 2nd edition but the e-book will be less expensive with more content. As more information becomes available, I will share it here.
Congrats on getting in to the show, you seem to have acquired a great foot hold with your art recently, the works are all so beautiful! The details you do are amazing. I have started watching a couple of encaustic work videos, I am motivated to try this medium. Look forward to the e book!
ReplyDeleteThe details come from the transfer, I just enhance them with colored wax and oil pastel to make them pop. The book may be a helpful tool if you decide to try encaustic painting, padmaja.
DeleteOoh, I am so excited about your workshop!! Do let me know as you get more details as to how I can sign up. I hope you will be showing us how to transfer images too. I know you've explained it on your blog before but seeing it and doing it live will be such an easier way for me to learn. And I love your pieces so much that I think I would love learning how to do them myself! All the pieces you've shared here are so beautiful!! Love the wildflowers and nature scenes.
ReplyDeleteThe details will be posted on the website soon, Sherri. Of course image transfers are my favorite technique and I will be teaching how to do that along with lots of other stuff. If you do sign up it will certainly be fun to meet you!
DeleteCongrats on all counts, Robin! Good news all round
ReplyDeletethe key is… to not stop trying, Deborah! Thanks for the support.

Thank you, Corn.
DeleteWow! Where to even begin. Amazing work! Congratulations on all your show pieces- they are stunning. Your e-book piece is simply gorgeous- the detail is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteYour class will be wonderful!
Pam, it's actually a few years of work posted above. Finding the right fit has always been the hardest part of the equation, thanks.
DeleteIt's wonderful that you're "in the book." Great work, as always. I saw your New Orleans' photos on FB. I vacationed there once--loved the bread pudding from Commander's Palace (I think that was the name).
ReplyDeleteHallie, I came home from New Orleans with bronchitis and have been sick all week, too much fun was had there I guess. Commander's Palace is still there although I did not go this visit (did last visit). Hoping to get back to painting as soon as I have my energy level restored.
