Autumn in the Air

Lot's of activities going on this time of year and at the end of the month I will be teaching  Saturday workshops at Montserrat College of Art. Last spring we decided to offer the workshop on 2 consecutive Saturdays rather than 8 weekly evening classes and it was a much more successful, intensive way to teach and learn. There is still time to sign up and if you are interested, all information is in the workshop link above.

I also have been busy ordering new business cards with my new domain name (www.RobinSamiljan.com), creating a new sign for my exhibit booth, and with the Paradise City fine arts and craft show just a few weeks away I decided to put together the show announcement promoting my upcoming solo show.

My new booth sign is a simple font (which happens to match my web design) with the background from one of my newer encaustic paintings (which happens to match my blog header). The sign is 8 inches high and 4 feet wide made out of gator board and will hang from a support bar near the back panel of my booth.

The Cambridge Art Association Fall Salon opens this Friday, it's the one show each year that is not juried and allows every artist member to participate. I have a few other things in the works and hope to have news and updates by the beginning of October. There certainly is a huge amount of work behind the scenes, tending to the business of being an artist.

  1. You are a very busy woman! Oh, to be young and energetic again! Love the fall piece! You are really mastering your craft. Good luck with all of your projects.

  2. Congratulations on all that you have going on. Way to make it all happen, Robin!

I love the simplicity of your show announcements. This is a classic example of the old adage, "Less is more". I also love that you are 'branding' all your peripherals. Continuity is a beautiful thing. Great work!

  3. Strange how things just happen to match. I believe you've thought of everything (part of the reason for your success). Beautiful announcement--keep going.

  4. Oh to have to do some of that behind the scenes work! My art just isn't good enough to justify the efforts and expenses. Makes me sad. Still, love your business cards and that amazing golden fall path. So beautiful!

  5. Eva, I have been busy but it's been more like a distraction from making new art. But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

I did think about the card Don, and if it should be more detailed (and if I should have one of my web designer/photoshop friends help me) and colorful, but I also wanted to keep it simple and I think it works too, thanks.

Some of these details matter to only me Hallie, but they do matter. Thanks.

There is definitely expense involved in the behind the scenes stuff, Sherry, a reason I try to do the work sparingly and thoughtfully, thank you.

  6. ooh I love the colors in 'Pathway'. So warm and inviting. You sure have a lot going on - I wish you success in all of it!

    The sign looks great!
