Holiday prep

I know tomorrow is only October 1, but before you know it the stores will be stocked with Christmas decorations and gift ideas. I spent the past few days painting new small works (6" x 6") in preparation for holiday season, with more on the way.

"Cafe Brauer, pond side"

Most afternoons I walk through the park, past Lincoln Park Zoo and the North Pond. I never realized how beautiful the landscape was and am constantly impressed with the beauty and tranquility that can be found in the city.

"Misty Morning"

This is a favorite place of mine (in Vermont) and I have painted it several times. I never tire of the misty morning feeling.

"Sunday Sail"

I had no idea sailing was so popular in Chicago. Every weekend I have seen the boats on the horizon and notice most of all the color of the lake - more of a sea foam green in contrast to sky blue.

  1. Chicago (and Illinois) does have some stunning landscapes indeed. Of course, I have found that to be the same in all the states I have been through (except one but I am sure there must be something pretty there too; I've just not seen it). These are beautiful pieces, Robin.

    1. I am looking forward to seeing more of the IL landscape because as you know, Sherry, there is so much more to Illinois than just the city of Chicago.

  2. All the three are lovely Robin! Parks in cities sort of bring down the chaos and bring in some calm quiet time. Loved your version of such a park, the depth is remarkable, so also with the last one.

    1. Every where I go, padmaja, I see something to paint and these days technology makes it so easy to document because most cell phones have cameras. I use mine all the time.

    1. I am happy but admit I am still adjusting to living in the city (with a family support system). I do see things with fresh eyes which is why I am so inspired to paint these snippets of where ever I go.
